L&rsquo;appellation y est li\u00e9e,\u00a0\u00a0dans le sens d&rsquo;une origine mythique d&rsquo;une ma\u00e7onnerie de pure tradition, adh\u00e9rente aux plus anciens us et coutumes ma\u00e7onniques. Le rituel\u00a0\u00a0est introduit et d\u00e9fendu par\u00a0<strong>les r\u00e9giments irlandais<\/strong>, qui l&rsquo;exporteront d&rsquo;ailleurs en\u00a0<strong>Am\u00e9rique du Nord<\/strong>\u00a0au d\u00e9but du XVIII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, o\u00f9 il prend par la suite sa d\u00e9nomination secondaire de\u00a0<strong>rite am\u00e9ricain<\/strong>\u00a0en distinction du rite \u00e9mulation ou rite anglais.<\/p><p>\u00c9tant donn\u00e9 le contexte d&rsquo;apparition, r\u00e9solument\u00a0<strong>th\u00e9iste<\/strong>, le fondement essentiel du Rite d&rsquo;York est la Bible et plus particuli\u00e8rement l&rsquo;Ancien Testament. Les trois premiers degr\u00e9s du rituel\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0sont pratiqu\u00e9s dans des loges qualifi\u00e9es de symboliques.Le Rite d&rsquo;York est un des rites ma\u00e7onniques les plus pratiqu\u00e9s aux \u00c9tats-Unis.
